New Madrid Fault Starting Up Again?

Alabama residents have been badly shaken by a series of mysterious earthquakes.

If it went the same time as Yellowstone, that would be an extra-special fun year right there.

Maybe the earth is cooling down and contracting.

... an even more powerful force that we can't see is the magnetic field that normally keeps these plates turgid and floating. As the magnetic field wanes, what was formerly a normal configuration literally has the supports knocked out underneath it. This sounds exactly like what happened in Alabama. It just suddenly caved in and fell through.

I highly recommend the book by Robert Felix, it has excellent descriptions of the causal chain of events as magnetic fields change.

Felix points out that the climate change occurs rapidly, with tectonic effects for centuries afterwards.
