Don McClean's Prophetic Vision

Original manuscript for "American Pie" sold at auction.

The way to recognize a prophet is to wait and watch to see if the things they have predicted come to pass. Don McClean had an uncanny inspiration that I believe came from God himself.

The people over the years who believed the lyrics represented a much deeper reality unfolding were right. That is exactly what they were intended to convey.

---------------------------------

"American Pie"
[Intro]
A long, long time ago
I can still remember how that music used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while

But February made me shiver
With every paper I'd deliver
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step

I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died

[Chorus]
So bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey in Rye
Singin' "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"

[Verse 1]
Did you write the book of love
And do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so?
Now do you believe in rock and roll?
Can music save your mortal soul?
And can you teach me how to dance real slow?

Well, I know that you're in love with him
'Cause I saw you dancin' in the gym
You both kicked off your shoes
Man, I dig those rhythm and blues

I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the music died

[Chorus]
I started singin' bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey in Rye
Singin' "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"

[Verse 2]
Now for ten years we've been on our own
And moss grows fat on a rollin' stone
But that's not how it used to be
When the jester sang for the king and queen
In a coat he borrowed from James Dean
And a voice that came from you and me

Oh, and while the king was looking down
The jester stole his thorny crown
The courtroom was adjourned
No verdict was returned

And while Lenin read a book on Marx
The quartet practiced in the park
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music died

[Chorus]
We were singin' bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey in Rye
Singin' "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"

[Verse 3]
Helter skelter in a summer swelter
The birds flew off with a fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fast
It landed foul on the grass
The players tried for a forward pass
With the jester on the sidelines in a cast

Now the halftime air was sweet perfume
While the sergeants played a marching tune
We all got up to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance

'Cause the players tried to take the field
The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died?

[Chorus]
We started singin' bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey in Rye
And singin' "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"

[Verse 4]
Oh, and there we were all in one place
A generation lost in space
With no time left to start again
So come on, Jack be nimble, Jack be quick
Jack Flash sat on a candlestick
'Cause fire is the devil's only friend

Oh, and as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No angel born in Hell
Could break that Satan's spell

And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died

He was singin' bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey in Rye
And singin' "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"

[Outro]
I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news
But she just smiled and turned away
I went down to the sacred store
Where I'd heard the music years before
But the man there said the music wouldn't play

And in the streets, the children screamed
The lovers cried and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken

And the three men I admire most
The Father, Son and the Holy Ghost
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died

And they were singin' bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey in Rye
Singin' "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"

[Chorus]
They were singin' bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey in Rye
And singin' "This'll be the day that I die"

I have always loved that song.
Tex, what do you make of these articles?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2952418/Neanderthals-interbred-longer-modern-humans-east-Asia-DNA-reveals.html

Asians have a very low incidence of "mental illness", but they have bigger brains, higher visual and mathematical intelligence and lower verbal intelligence on average, and are generally thought of as quiet, hyper-intelligent, etc,. Much like Aspies.
Then there's this one...

Asians have a very low rate of "mental illness", but, like Aspies, have larger brains, higher visual and mathematical intelligence and lower verbal intelligence on average. They are also generally thought of as quiet, intelligent, etc.

They also typically have shoveled incisors, broader faces, broader noses, shorter height, limb proportions similar to neanderthals, etc, despite having shallow eye sockets, but deep sockets are not necessarily a neanderthal trait, were present on hominids before neanderthals(see Kabwe skull), and the psyche correlation is very questionable.

Although Asians have a very low incidence of 'mental illness', they, like Aspies, typically have larger brains(I've even heard it said that they are equal to neanderthals), higher IQ, higher visual and mathematical intelligence and lower verbal, excellent memories, and are generally thought of as quiet, hyper-intelligent, et

Except Neanderthals didn't look much like you described. The Southern Denisovians and Amud averaged 6'2 in heighth and had bodies much like the Homo Sapiens ideal seen in pro bodybuilders.

Because the first Neanderthal they found was a Mousterian suffering from terrible, crippling rickets they have promoted misconceptions on this issue for 150 years. They needed a skeleton to fit into their "ascent of man" chart and that one fit the bill. They never allowed people to know until recently that Homo Sapiens looks similar to that with severe rickets.

Asians definitely have certain qualities they got from Neanderthals but other traits are evidence of specific adaptation to their region. It is likely Asians have brains more similar to those of Neanderthals that do Europeans.

Seeing that almost all Neanderthals featured eyes that looked like they were nocturnal, obviously the flatter Asian face is something that is a result of adaptation to different weather and environmental conditions.

Most Neanderthal face reconstructions try to force them to look more Asian but their eyes were deeper and rounder like many of the most beautiful Europeans in all four known varieties of the breed.

Did you know that scientists are on the record as stating that the genetic differences between Mousterian and Amud Neanderthals are greater than those between Mousterians and Homo Sapiens? Indeed.

McClean's genius was to turn the entire song into a series of references for changes to music and culture whilst pointing to an apocalyptic future where every good thing in America would come to an end in a nuclear war. It was an amazing achievement.

My understanding is that McClean had come away from a Rolling Stones concert.

When researching about the events mentionned in the song, I came across the event which is at the center of the song : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altamont_Free_Concert

It is amazingly ominous. Hell's Angels acting as concert security was foreshadowing private security contractors ruining everything. Middle Upper Class kids with good education (The Rolling Stones) singing about the Devil as an act of teenager bravado and actually unleashing the Beast.

One has to wonder whether the event was actually "salted" with drugs available in abondance, as a giant social experiment (by the same people who ran the "War of the World" psyops in 1938).

Those psychological experiments were at the leading edge of research back in these days.

It is revelaing that this event marked the end of the "Hippie" era. One could compare it to the hangover after all rules have been abolished : for a short time, everything that had been stocked ans maintained are still available, and then nothing works and everything is lacking (kindness, good spirits etc.)

I agree absolutely with your take on the song. Mass commercialization of music and turning people into consumer units who worshipped idols led to one of them killed at a Rolling Stones concert.

Amazing how one song can contain so much truth, isn't it?
